Time to relax after the storm. Today was one of those days I felt like binge eating and chilling in my downtown apartment. Great news my friend Kim is going to Texas to cover a story on the hurricane disaster and promote ways you can help those that have suffered the disaster. As we were having lunch at a local food joint call COMMUNE in Norfolk, VA we talked for hours about our goals and were we see ourselves like 10 years from now. It was a really nice day to go for a walk and we showed up to the restaurant a little too early where we found ourselves walking around downtown for an hour up and down the street, exploring record stores that were closing down with great sales.
I love records and it's probably a part of my classic soul that it interests me to listen to. After peeking into shops it was time to grub and chub!

You probably want to know more about this dress, and what I think about it. I like this dress a lot but it is heavy on the material and the shoulders have a little puff to them like super miniature invisible shoulder pads, but you can't tell.

It's an elegant chic look that I love year round. So here's the million dollar answer to this post... it's wearing a thin black material, as simple as a tank top and trousers or denim. All of the heat is going to start making you wet at your chest and back. If you want to wear black try picking out fabrics like thin cotton and stay away from silks or heavier cotton. Another great choice would be linen because it's so forgiving on those hot days like a mother ******.

I remember the days I used to wear black for work all the time and easily transitioned into parties after work because it's so effortlessly amazing for every occasion. A lot of my accessories are black or grey and it's easy to grab something out the door in a hurry because I know it will match with just about anything I have.

It's whimsical and very breathable to wear for summer when it feels like it's almost 100 degrees outside. My closet contains 80% dresses because half the time it's something always easy to grab and put on for a days out on the town. There is something elegant about a proper maxi dress on a lady in the summer and that expresses chic intelect about her.

I have a few timeless summer pieces I'l gravitate towards and they are maxi dresses, fashion caps, high rise shorts and slides. I feel like you really can't go wrong with a few pieces you love to wear in different colors or styles in your wardrobe.
